What we collect
When you submit a power cut report we store the postcode district, optional town name, report type (power cut / restored), an optional short note and the time. To prevent spam we store a one-way hash derived from your IP address and browser; we do not store the raw IP address alongside reports.
Location
If you use “Use my location”, your browser shares approximate coordinates only to find the nearest postcode district. Coordinates are not stored.
Phone numbers and email
If you add your phone number to a comment or subscribe to email alerts, we store it privately and use it only for power cut updates for your area, with your consent. It is never shown on the website or sold. To have it deleted, contact us.
Cookies and analytics
We may use essential cookies and privacy-respecting analytics. Update this section to reflect the services you actually use and your obligations under UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, and you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). Add the name and contact details of the data controller here.
Retention
Reports are automatically deleted after 180 days.
